On November 10th at the library of the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome, the official presentation of the book “Andrea Bocelli. Be next to him” (Gruppo Albatros il Filo, 346 pages, €17.00). The author, Giorgio De Martino, the writer and essayist Alessandro Iovino, undertook telling numerous stories from Andrea Bocelli’s private and public life, emphasizing the importance of making known today one of the great positive myths of our time, in the voices of family members, friends and closest collaborators. The audience was expecting with anticipation the arrival of maestro himself who had a concert on the venue. Maestro Andrea Bocelli, was the first to recognise and appreciate the value of the dense and exciting work, which took over ten years to complete.

“Inside there are wonderful stories”, –

says Bocelli at the end of the presentation: the testimonies of the book begin with the words of Edi Aringhieri Bocelli, the tenor’s mother, who recently passed away, then turned to friends and collaborators of the caliber of Fulvio Montipò, Pierpaolo Guerrini and Caterina Caselli. The narrative clearly dwells on the strength of his wife Veronica Berti, captured while breastfeeding the little girl of the Bocelli house, Virginia, who ten years later will take the floor and will be interviewed in turn by the author. The protagonists will also be Amos and Matteo Bocelli and many others, forming a choir of fifteen voices capable of restoring the man behind the artist, coherent and never over the top, both at the beginning of his career and at the height of his success.

“Everyone’s life is a struggle. Amazingly, this book contains the harvest of what I have sown in my lifetime, from my green years until today” says the singer.

On the occasion of his sixty-fifth birthday and the first thirty years of his career – in which he broke all record records, obtaining numerous awards we meet the musician, the intellectual, the poet, the philanthropist, through the stories of the people closest to him. Fifteen voices were interviewed by the inspired pen of Giorgio De Martino, for a collection of testimonies that began in 2012 and lasted over ten years. From “Lajatico” to the most important stages in the world, his is a story capable of exciting and involving with timeless elegance.
